Joe Pat was born on October 31, 1950 to Victor O and Mary Gene Brabham McGilvray in Texarkana, AR. Joe Pat grew up in a loving home with his parents and his sister, Vickie Sue, in Linden, Texas, the town he called home for most of his life. His early life was immersed in the traditions of scouting, fostering a love of nature, fishing, and hunting. His diligence and hard work in this program led to his accomplishment of attaining the highest ranking in scouting, the Eagle Scout.

Upon graduation from Linden-Kildare High School, he attended Texarkana Junior College. Soon after, he served his country in the National Guard. He later made a living through work as an electrician.

Joe Pat, affectionately called Uncle Joe Joe, was always present for delicious family dinners, get-togethers with cousins, and fellowship with his close friends. He was a dedicated member of the Linden Methodist Church and enjoyed the weekly camaraderie of the Fisherman’s Sunday School class. He also looked forward to ‘men’s Sunday’ where he sang in the choir.

Although Joe Pat never married, he did enjoy the companionship of his friends and his chocolate lab, Rod. He enjoyed visiting the old home place in Bryan’s Mill. He also loved uncovering the ancient mysteries of the universe through the History channel.

Joe Pat was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Mary Gene McGilvray, and his brother-in-law, Bill Mulvany. He is survived by his sister, Vickie Sue Mulvany of Texarkana, AR, his niece and nephew-in-law, Christy and Dan Greathouse of Portales, NM, his great nephew and great niece-in-law, Christopher Blake and Erin Thompson of Gilmer, TX, his great nephew Greg Wooldridge of Portales, NM, his great niece Maggie Wooldridge of Portales, NM, and his great great niece, Blakely Jo Thompson. Joe Pat is also survived by a special group of first cousins he cherished who went on many a childhood adventure with him.
