Funeral services for Brother Joe Riggins, 80, of Daingerfield will be a 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with the Brother Pete Leslie officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. of Hughes Springs. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Brother Riggins died March 13 at a Tyler hospital. He was born March 13, 1928 in the Cornett Community near Hughes Springs. He was a Baptist preacher. He started Central Baptist Church in Daingerfield, serving as pastor there from 1968 to 1971 and again from 1989 to 1992. He also started a church in Crockett, TX in 1973 to 1978 and later pastored at Louisburg, KS, from 1979 to 1981; in Wheeler, TX in 1984 and 1985 and in Hamilton, KS from 1986 to 1987. Brother Riggins is survived by his wife Wanda of Daingerfield; sons and daughters-in-law: Billy Riggins of Daingerfield, Larry and Betty Riggins of Troup, and Tim and Lesia Riggins of Mapleton, grandchildren: Dee and Karen Riggins, John and Alesha Dunbar, Lara and Shawn Beverly, Misty Riggins, Laura and Chip Robertson, Lariann Riggins and fianc Randall Loftin, and Heather Riggins; four great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Alissa, and Paige Dunbar; and Dylan Riggins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brother Riggins was preceded in death by his son Donald Gene, siblings Ruby Lancaster, Ocie Riggins and Ione Hayes, his parents Ross and Carrie Lee Riggins, and one great-granddaughter, Macie Nicole Dunbar.
