Funeral services for Joel M. McDaniel, 80, of Hughes Springs, will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church, with Bro. Larry Neeley and Bro. Steven Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Joel was born Jan. 19, 1932 and passed away May 17, 2012 at the Mt. Pleasant Healthcare nursing home. Joel was a member of the Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Years ago he coached the Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church mens softball team, they were really good. Joel was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Waco Scottish Rites and the American Legion. Joel was in the army during the Korean conflict, he also served in the Army reserve for six years. Joel was manager for the Economy Auto Supply store for 32 years, he had to retire in 1996 because of his health. Joel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sondra McDaniel; sons, Bobby and Marty McDaniel; daughter-in-law, Sarah McDaniel; three granddaughters, Ashley, Kimberly and Jessica McDaniel; great-granddaughter, Andrea McDaniel; sister, Ann Duke and husband Vernice; brothers, David and Norbrate McDaniel. Joel was preceded in death by one sister, Claudine Lemford and his parents, Tandy and Sara McDaniel.
