Funeral services for Mr. John Brown, age 78, of Maud, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the funeral home.
John David Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1946, in Houston, Texas, to William Harvey Brown and Myrtis Washington Brown.
A proud veteran, John honorably served in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and was a distinguished recipient of the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for his bravery and sacrifice.
John was a man of unwavering faith and a devoted family man. Known for his warm smile and kind spirit, he brought joy to everyone around him. He found happiness in the outdoors, especially while hunting, and cherished time spent with his loved ones. Through every challenge he faced, including his many health battles, he remained a fighter, meeting each day with resilience and grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtis Brown; his brother, Joe E. Brown; and his nephew, Danny Duncan.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Pat Brown; his sons, Christopher David Brown and Rusty Brown (Brandi); and his two cherished grandchildren, Noah Brown and Mandelyn Brown. His legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
