Graveside services for John R. Johnny Welch, 76, of Hughes Springs will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Hughes Springs Cemetery with Rev. Larry Neeley officiating under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Welch was born on July 14, 1932 in Hughes Springs to Roy and Lanie Welch and died on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Cass County. Mr. Welch was a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired from SWEPCO after 43 years. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Sally of Hughes Springs; two daughters Marianne Garcia of Houston and Toni and her husband Randy Black of Hughes Springs; two grandchildren Heath and Carli Smith of Katy, TX and Jonathan Garcia of Salt Lake City, UT; one great grandchild Ian Smith of Katy, TX. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or the Hughes Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Welch will lie in state on Tuesday, June 2nd until 4 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.
