Graveside services for Junior Pete Royal, age 95, of Hughes Springs. Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at Love Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Royal will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Junior Pete Royal (Richard Juan) was born to the parentage of the late Pete and Minnie (Stern) Royal on December 14, 1928 in Cass County, Texas. J.P. passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
J.P had been a member of Love Chapel Baptist Church during his youth and early adult life. He later became a member of the Greater Love Baptist Church.
J.P. left school at an early age to work and at the age of 17, he joined the United States Army and served from 1945 – 1948.
After serving his time in the military he worked on the railroad and for Lone Star Steel for over 36 years. After enjoying retirement for a few years, he decided to try his hands as a bus driver for Hughes Springs ISD and did so for 13 years.
J.P. married Mattie Jean Linwood in 1948. To this union ten children were born.
J.P. later married Deborah Llewlyn and to that union one child was born.
He leaves mourn: three sons, Thomas (Linda) of Cedar Hills, Texas, Raymond of Cedar Hill, Texas, Ricky (Paula) of Sacramento, California; four daughters, Patricia Marion Holloman of Hughes Springs, Texas, Vicky Royal of Reno, Nevada, Mary Royal of San Antonio, Texas, and Candy Royal (Brylon) of Mesquite, Texas; numerous grandchildren (including great and great-great), nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives.
J.P. was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosilyn and Barbara; two sons, Carl and Michael; and his only brother, T.W.
