  1. Family and friends of Kathryn Callaway, I am sorry for your loss: as you celebrate the well lived life of one especially strong (Ecclesiastes 3:12, Psalm 90:10); please remember that Our Heavenly Father authorized Jesus Christ to tell us that many now dead will live again and on a restored earth (John 5:21, John 11:25; Psalm 37:11, 29).

  2. Kathryn Callaway, You were A Pioneer & A Trailblazing Woman in A Man's World. Thank You for Who Were ! You are Missed & Loved. Be at Peace in Our Lord, Jesus Christ … Love much M.

  3. So sorry to hear this! My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and all who loved her! You are really blessed to have her this long!

  4. I shared many hours with Kathryn as we wrote her memoirs together. I came to know her as a most gracious hostess, a fabulous cook, a woman of superior intelligence, a woman both proud and humble, courageous in the face of hardships…and she endured many of those. She lost her father, whom she adored, when she was only 16. She paid for his funeral herself by working part time when she was still going to high school. She became a successful woman in an occupation where women were not usually found anywhere but behind a typewriter. She lost her only daughter, her husband of over thirty years, and a granddaughter within a short time of one another. In spite of the challenges life threw at her, she always held a strong faith in God, a deep love for her family, a love of nature and growing things, and an amazing sense of humor. She didn't hesitate to even laugh at herself when she felt the occasion called for it. Kathryn said she had three securities…her Bible, her little dog, and her shotgun, and that not one of them had failed her. She would tell you that she liked being old…that it set her free. And now she truly is free…free to walk the most beautiful gardens with loving companions. I think of her every day and probably always will. I love Kathryn and the values she stands for. I know her family will miss her deeply, but they were blessed beyond measure by having her at the head of their family for so long. Few on this earth are more deeply blessed.I hope you will smile and let your heart warm with joy when you think of her. With greatest respect, Sherry A. Harris

  5. I only knew Kathryn mostly due to her love of herbs. I visited Holly Hill and enjoyed being shown her collection of herbs and her "old time" home dcor. She was a lovely lady. I enjoyed working with her son, Gary while I was working in the Chamber of Commerce in D'field. I grew to love Gary & Linda and today I offer my love and prayers to all of Kathryn's family. I'm sure she is already getting her herb garden started in Heaven. God bless !

  6. I have known Kathryn since 1963. She worked at Garland Fed Sav & Loan and that is where we got our first home loan to build on Sachse Rd in Sachse, TX. The home still stands with the barn, built by my husband, myself, my mother and dad, who came from MO to help. I would sometimes see her in various places, the most recent at Marcy's funeral. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the funeral today. I want to express my sympathy to all the family. May the Lord give you comfort and peace as only he can give. Misty I love you.

  7. RIP Kathryn….feel blessed to have known you in my early childhood, a very devout Mother, Wife, and inspiration to all you came in contact with. Prayers for your family today and in the coming days and weeks as they face adjustment and acceptance. Doris Gatlin Smith
