Funeral services for Kay Wallace Tate, 67, of Hughes Springs, will be at 11 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs, with V.W. Red Simpson, officiating. Burial will be at Sardis Cemetery near Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Tate was born May 24, 1942 in Hughes Springs to John and R.V. Wallace and died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at a Linden hospital. Mrs. Tate was a retired teacher and a member of Church of Christ. Survivors include her mother R.V. Wallace of Hughes Springs; one brother John P. Wallace of Hughes Springs; one sister Joan Tomberlain of Omaha, TX; six grandchildren John and Justin White and Jessie Mangum of Anna, TX, Jerry Daniel, Trey Tate and Tamara Tate of Kingston, AZ; four great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, October 2, 2009 and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.

  1. I am so sorry to hear that a longtime friend has died. When we moved to Hughes Springs in 1947 we lived across the street from the Wallace's. Kay,Joan and I played together for hours at a time. Such a special family to me. May God bless you all in your time of sorrow. Thank you Mrs.R.V. for those happy childhood memories.
