Kenneth "Red" Carl Hamilton

December 20, 1929 ~ June 28, 2022
Kenneth Carl “Red” Hamilton passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 28, 2022. Mr. Hamilton was born on December 20, 1929 in Linden, Texas to Willie Davis Hamilton and Mary Lucille Wilson Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a member of Linden United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army and worked for many years as an Equipment Operator for the Texas Highway Department.
Red enjoyed many activities throughout his lifetime but was definitely a sport fan through and through. His favorite sport was baseball and legend has it that he was a pretty good ball player in his day. He did play minor league baseball for the Marshall, Texas Tigers of the Lone Star Baseball League. But, his love for Bobbye Burns overshadowed his love for baseball and he returned to Linden to begin his life and family with her. His family has always been told that if it wasn’t for Bobbye he would have played in the major leagues. His family has been grateful for that decision every day of their lives.
Over the years he volunteered as a little league coach and was happy to give his advice to his sons, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren when they played. He always said that if he had a dollar for every ball game he ever attended he would be a very rich man.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his two sons: Kenny Hamilton and wife Tina of Linden, Kevin Hamilton and wife Pamela of Texarkana, Texas; brother, Gerald Taylor Hamilton of Guthrie, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Kassie Watson, Ryan Hamilton, Haley Troxell, Kallie Daniel, Austin Sewell, Riley Hamilton; eight great-grandchildren: Carter Watson, Cole Watson, Rhett Daniel, Grant Hamilton, Brock Troxell, Luke Hamilton, Vivian Daniel, Benson Troxell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Mrs. Bobbye Hamilton; one brother, Paul Hamilton. We are certain that on Tuesday evening there was quite a reunion in heaven as he was met at the Pearly Gates by Jesus Christ and Bobbye Florence, not necessarily in that order.
Funeral services for Mr. Hamilton will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Linden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linden United Methodist Church General Fund or Linden Cemetery Association.

Kenny, Kevin and families, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Red. I have so many fond memories of the times our daddies were together and shared stories and laughter. I remember the love of Red and Bobbye and just the powerful love they had for all of you and the pride they took in all of the accomplishments from children to grandchildren to great-grandchildren. My heart is aching with you in the loss you must be feeling, but I know we can rejoice in knowing the family reunion in heaven is probably something else! My love to each of you. ??
