He will be greatly missed by me because I really looked up to him even though most people didn't. Last time I saw him was almost 2 years ago at an Avinger basketball and he was still same ole Kenny Don by asking how my dad was, and uncle was. I will keep his family in my prayers…Love to the AbernathysJohn L. Moore

  56. Kenny Don was more than a football player, outstanding student athlete, and friend. He was also like a son to me. When I think of Kenny Don, I think of bright eyes, passion for life, frosty mornings, chest waders, the smell of gun powder, bird dogs, as well as sunny days, fishing poles, Caddo Lake, Patsy's kitchen and George's full-service service station and all the Abernathy family. Their family is full of Christian love and warm East Texas hospitality. Kenny Don was the epitome of his family's values–hard work and dedication in everything he did…and did well! The Austin College football family and "red shirt pride" will always remember #22. We will miss him. The Morris and Secord FamiliesVance, Paula, Kelli, Marty, Jordan and Will

  57. I entered Austin College at the same time as Kenny. I'll never forget #22, his many nicknames, including my favorite, "Crow." What a kind guy from a town he loved and a family whom he spoke of often. Mr. Abernathy, I know how much he respected you because of how much he talked about you when we had lunch or dinner together. A good student and a good friend, bright-eyed and ready for action, Kenny became a solid cornerback and a leader in the class of 1993. His passing comes too soon, and stuns all of us who spent our college years together in Sherman. God bless.Colin Dunnigan AC '93Dayton, OH
