Funeral services for Kevin Drew King, 50, of the Jenkins community near Daingerfield, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with the Rev. Scott Darby officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday afternoon and evening and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. King died Saturday, Oct. 2 at his residence. He was born June 29, 1960 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a lifetime member of Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and a benefactor member of Texas Rifle Association, and was treasurer for the Lone Star Gun Club. He was a proud member of the Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department, he loved to hunt and fish and was he was an avid wartime history buff. He enjoyed archealogy and collecting Indian artifacts and after several digs, was recognized in a publication by Texas Historical Commission. He was employed by Reliant NDT Systems and Services. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Pennington. Mr. King is survived by his father Douglas N. Pennington of Jenkins; three sisters and brothers-in-law Ember and Sammy Cather of Jenkins; Debbie and Donnie Lenox, and Wendy and Graeme Stewart, all of North Richland Hills; and one brother and sister-in-law Mike and Lynn Pennington of Mount Vernon; nine nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles,as well as many close friends. The Jenkins community has established a memorial fund to Kevin at Northeast Texas Credit Union under the name of David Ronchetto.
