LINDEN L. D. Lummus, 86, of Linden died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in a Linden hospital. Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 29, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Linden with Bro. Jackie Stanfield officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Lummus was born August 29, 1922 in Clarendon, Texas, to Joe and Flora Stephens Lummus. He was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Chemical Division, a WWII Navy veteran, a deacon of First Baptist Church of Linden, a member of the Linden Lions Club, a Mason and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He married Marguerite Grisby Beaty on May 9, 1969 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Lummus was preceded in death by his first wife, Rae Louise Lummus, a stepson, Paul Beaty, and two brothers, Royce Lummus and John Lummus. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Lummus of Linden; two stepsons and their spouses, David and Madeline Beaty of Arlington, and Mark and Dannette Beaty, of Diana; two nephews and one niece, Alan Lummus of Dallas, Royce Lummus and Lolana Thompson both of Ft. Worth; seven step-grandchildren, Lisa Langley of Corpus Christi; Greg Beaty of Duncanville; Melissa Beaty of Ft. Worth; First Lieutenant John Beaty of Ft. Lewis, WA; Annette Beaty of Arlington; Nicole Beaty and Joshua Beaty of Diana; and five step-greatgrandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
