Lee Andrew Denmark, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Lee Andrew Denmark, Jr., 89, of Avinger, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Denmark will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee Andrew Denmark, Jr., affectionately known as “2-Ball,” was born on October 10, 1936, to the late Lee Andrew Denmark, Sr. and Gracie Jones Denmark. He passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

Lee attended school in Avinger and attended Union Hill Baptist Church and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He married Lorene Fisher Denmark, with whom he shared many cherished years until her passing.

Lee lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and a deep commitment to serving his community. He dedicated many years of his career to the City of Lone Star, where he worked as a civil engineer. Through his years of service, he earned the respect of his coworkers and members of the community for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication to improving the city he proudly served.

After retiring from the City of Lone Star, Lee soon discovered that he could not simply sit around. When he was asked to work for the City of Daingerfield, he gladly returned to work and served there as a civil engineer for several more years before finally retiring for good.

“2-Ball” was outgoing, outspoken, and never afraid to speak his mind. He tried his best to keep everyone in the family in line and could always be counted on to offer his honest opinion. Beneath his strong personality was a generous heart and a deep, unwavering love for his family.

He enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in keeping everything looking its best. Lee was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching baseball and faithfully cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, football season remained one of his favorite times of the year. He also appreciated the simple comfort of a good home-cooked meal. Black-eyed peas, sweet potatoes, and cornbread were staples in his diet.

Above all else, Lee was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his son, Douglas DeonDre Denmark of Tyler; loving daughter-in-law, Amber E. Denmark, of Longview; seven grandchildren, Jazmine Briana Denmark of Tyler, Texas, Dyamond Tiana Denmark of Boca Raton, Florida, Autumn Alyse Denmark of Bixby, Oklahoma, Dahlon DeonDre’ Denmark of Tyler, Texas, Devon D’Shawn Denmark of Gladewater, Texas, Jaydon Tre’Von Denmark of Monroe, North Carolina, and Donavon D’Wayne Denmark of Hallsville, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kalliee Lianne Denmark, Khalil DeonDre’ Denmark, Kamila Ivory Renee Denmark; three siblings, Linda Denmark, Kathlene Denmark, and Freddy Denmark; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Andrew Denmark, Sr. and Gracie Jones Denmark; his wife, Lorene Fisher Denmark; and his siblings, Mattie Chism, Arlethia Fomby, Annie Holifield, Lawrence Denmark, Hazel Charles, Elizabeth Brown, and Curtis Denmark.

Lee will be remembered for his strong character, generous heart, and devotion to his family. The memory of “2-Ball” will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
