LINDEN, TX Funeral services for Loy Wayne Dunkel, 85, of Avinger, will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 1, 2011 at Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Crowder officiating. Interment will follow in Linden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Dunkel was born August 1, 1925 in Bunker Hill, Kansas to John Elias and Violet May Cobb Dunkel. He passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Linden. Mr. Dunkel was an electronics technician, a Baptist, and served in the U.S. Marines during WWII in the South Pacific. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dortha Fant Dunkel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Loy Wayne Dunkel, Jr. and Jackie, Frank Fant Dunkel and Cathy Terrell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Ann Norman, Dortha LaDon and Tom Grubbs; eight grandchildren, Stacey Lynn Norman, Spencer Lee Norman, John David Dunkel, Loy Wayne Dunkel III, Katherine Loy Phillips, Shawna Terrell Dunkel, Nathan James Dunkel, and Billy Carroll; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Fisher.
