Mark Motley, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1965, in Gilmer, Texas, to Marion Troy Motley and Joy Lynn Motley.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Mark was a devoted Aggie through and through. During his time in College Station, he had the honor of serving as quarterback for the Texas A&M football team, a role that solidified his lifelong love for sports. His passion for athletics began early—he was a key member of Ore City High School’s baseball team, which won the 1984 State Championship.
Mark’s career was as dynamic as his personality. He began as a teacher at Ore City ISD, where he made a lasting impact on his students. He later transitioned into a successful career as a landman and real estate professional, where his knowledge, dedication, and work ethic earned him great respect.
Above all, Mark cherished his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Joy Lynn Motley. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Motley; his daughter, Lyndsy Hendricks; his sister, Delia Crockett; his son, Patrick Peoples; and his biological children, Tyler Kirkindoll and Valley Havens.
Mark’s legacy is one of kindness, determination, and an unwavering love for his family, friends, and Texas A&M. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives he touched.
