Services for Mrs. Marlene Watkins, age 78, of Hughes Springs, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Daingerfield Church of Christ. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Marlene Rust Watkins was born July 11, 1946Β  to J.D. and Martha Rust. She passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Hughes Springs.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Watkins; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Rust; sister, Carla Barnes; brothers-in-law, Noel Watkins, James Watkins, Joey Watkins; and sisters-in-law, Merlene Shaddix and Loretta Williams.

Ms. Watkins is survived by her sons, Marty Watkins and wife Connie of Hughes Springs, Michael Watkins and wife Kristi of Omaha; brothers, Gary Rust and wife Jenny of Longview, Sammy Rust and wife Nancy of Hughes Springs; grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla, Austin, Abby and Aubery; great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Stormie, Leyton, Sterling Boone, and baby Wrenley on the way; brothers-in-law, Jackie and wife Carolyn Watkins, Zackie Watkins, Shirrell Watkins and wife Donna, Robert Barnes; sister-in-law, Barbara Higgins and husband Dwaine of Omaha; and a host of extended family and friends.

When I talked to her on the phone she never failed to close out the conversation with an I love you. Will miss her being a part of my life.

We got to talk a lot about Michael and Marty and the grandkids. Marty and Micheal don’t ask me what we talked about because I’m not telling !!!! I will miss her so much.
