Martha Green

Martha Green, 88, formerly of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

She was born on July 20, 1937, in Hughes Springs to Audie and Opal Smith. Martha devoted her life to caring for her family, which brought her the greatest joy. In her spare time, she loved gardening and growing flowers. One of her favorite sayings was, “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

She was preceded in death by her husband James Wesley Green Sr.;  three sons, James Wesley Green Jr., David Ray Green, and Michael Eugene Green; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Martha is survived by six grandchildren, Elizabeth Green, Nicole Green, Alexandra Martinez, Amber Green, James Green, and Bryan Green; three great-grandchildren, William Green, Michael Martinez, and Alexander Boysen; one sister, Norma Barton; and one brother, John Smith, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish her memory.

Memorial services for Martha Green will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
