August 3, 1925 ~ May 3, 2012
Born August 3, 1925 to Clifton and Murl Leeves Smith in Daingerfield, Texas, Mary Beth went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3, 2012 at her home on the Lake O the Pines. Mary Beth is a 1942 graduate of Port Neches High School. Mary Beth married her childhood sweetheart, Louis J. Evans on July 18, 1943. They were married for almost 69 years and are long-time members of the Lake O the Pines Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Louis; her two children, Dr. Steve Evans and his wife Judy, of Highlands Ranch, CO and Carol Evans Parrymore, and her husband Bill, of Longview; three grandchildren, Robert Parrymore of Whitehouse, Paul and his wife Kellie of Diana, and Melissa Evans Powell of Highlands Ranch; seven great-grandchildren, Kaytlynn Stalcup, Kaytlin Parrymore, Mikayla Powell, Macie Parrymore, William Powell, Madalynn Parrymore, and Nikole Powell; two sisters, Kathleen Smith Smith of El Paso and Shirley Smith Stout of Beaumont, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clifton L. Smith of Beaumont. Mary Beth worked for Lone Star Steel and LeTourneau College, but she was happiest when she was in her kitchen baking and cooking for her family. Her whole family and her many friends adored her for her loving and unassuming care for everyone who came into contact with her. We know that heaven is a sweeter and happier place since her arrival. Mary Beth had a very strong faith in God which she demonstrated by her character and her concern for the welfare of others, always above her own. She lovingly and joyfully taught preschoolers in Bible Study at her church for many years. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2012 and the funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10 AM in the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs. Interment will be in the Hughes Springs Cemetery followed by a reception at the Lake O the Pines Baptist Church. Pallbearers include: Paul and Robert Parrymore, Allen and Jimmy Smith, and Rodney and Randy Stout. The family expresses their utmost appreciation to Beacon Hospice, Bethany Home Health Care, and all of the wonderful caregivers that have faithfully cared for our loved one. We especially thank Mrs. Joy Green-Epperson for her loving and meticulous care for Mary Beth through the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake O the Pines Baptist Church, 9046 FM 729, Avinger, TX 75630.
