Mary Louise Story

mary story

On September 16, 2021, a beautiful, funny, and very special lady’s soul left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father.  Mary Story “Mimi” was born on October 11, 1941 in Linden, Texas, to Nellie & Leslie Vaughan.  She was the third of six children.   She lived her entire life in East Texas where she met and married Floyd Story.  Together they had two children, Cindy, and Grady, who were the joys of their life.

Mary loved her Lord, her family, and her friends.  She had a personality and heart as big as Texas.  There was always the running joke among the family that Mary was the Mayor of Center Hill.  She knew a little, and sometimes a lot, about all in her community.  If she did not, you could be assured she would sooner than later.

She enjoyed crocheting, working in the garden, playing cards and dominoes with friends, loving on her granddaughters and having endless conversation with neighbors over coffee.  She was like a tornado.  You knew when she entered a room and when she exited.  Always full of life and ready to let you know how she felt.  She was one of a kind and that is why she was loved by so many.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Story; mother, Nellie Vaughan; father, Leslie Vaughan; and two brother, Larry and Eugene Vaughan.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Head of Linden, and her son, Grady Story of Atlanta; son-in-law, Will Head, and daughter-in-law, Christy Story; granddaughters Miranda Crompton of Linden and Chelsea Crompton of Atlanta; her three sisters, Joyce Johnson of Dallas, Margie Harris of Atlanta and Pat Wall of Center Hill and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Centerhill Cemetery with George Goynes officiating and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
