Mary Magdalene Williams, 80, of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away suddenly on January 14, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1944, in Daingerfield, Texas, to the late John Wes and Estella Holloman.
Mary was a graduate of Traylor High School and worked for many years at Pilgrim’s Pride. A devoted member of Love Chapel Baptist Church, she faithfully served on the Usher Board until her health began to decline. She was also a member of the Heroines of Jericho, embracing the values of service and fellowship throughout her life.
Mary had a deep love for music and was known to break into dance whenever she heard her favorite song, “Green Onions” by Booker T. & the M.G.’s. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who showered her family with love. She had her daughter, Sylvia, spoiled and she “loved the mess out of her grandchildren”.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John Wes and Estella Holloman, and her siblings: John “Head” Holloman, Jr. , Donald “Deek” Holloman, Dorothy “Dot” James, and Johnny Dale “Kirby” Holloman.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sylvia Williams, and her cherished grandchildren: La’Nyiah “Knot Knot” Williams, Antonio “JR” Peters, and Alyssa “Lyssa Pooh” Peters. She also leaves behind her siblings: Mildred Turner (Ervin), Georgia Reeves, Frank Holloman (Jody), Eugene “Jack” Holloman (Angie), Betty Sorenson (Edwin), Johnnie Mae Lee, Marilyn Criss (Charles), Chella Brooks (Michael), and Sheila Moody, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who held a special place in her heart.
Mary will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her infectious love of music, and the unconditional love she showed to her family and friends.
