Funeral services for Melba Wells Taylor, 58, of Longview, will be at 10 AM on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs, with Rev. Scott Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Cornett Cemetery near Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Taylor was born on August 8, 1951 in Cass County, TX to Elvis and Elnora Wells and died on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at a Longview Hospice. Mrs. Taylor will lie in state beginning at noon on Tuesday, September 22 at Rader Funeral Home at 1617 Judson Road in Longview where the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM and again beginning at noon on Wednesday, September 23 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs where the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Kilgore. She worked for 20 years in Food Service at Foster Middle School in the Longview Independent School District. Survivors include her husband of 33 years Edward Taylor of Longview; her mother Elnora Wells of Naples; one sister Elaine Willeford of New Boston; one nephew Master Sergeant Eddie Bartlett of Bossier City, LA; one niece Emily Huie of Hughes Springs; one uncle Charlie W. Hampton of Naples; several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Elvis Wells and her brother Wade Wells.
