Funeral services for Melvin Jewel Edmond, 64, of Daingerfield will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cason with Dr. Jessie Biles Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Cason under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. of Hughes Springs. Mr. Edmond will lie in state Friday afternoon and evening and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Edmond died Monday, May 30 at a Shreveport veteran's hospital. He was born September 11, 1946 in Morris County to James W. and Rachel Lee Smith Edmond. He is survived by his wife Mary Edmond of Daingerfield; two daughters and sons-in-law Rochelle and Billy Williams of Garland and Tina and Trent Jackson of DeSoto; step-children Sheryl and husband Anthony Boyd of Daingerfield, Mary Smith of Arlington, Sgt. Gene and wife Tina Doddy of Killeen; Candy and husband Bryant Matherson of The Colony; one brother and sister-in-law James and Margie Edmund Of Cason; one sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Billy Joe Dillard of Cason; two aunts, Annie Lafayette of Cason and Betty Jenkins of Abilene; three uncles Mack Smith of Cason, Richard Smith of Southfield MI and Rufus Edmond of Abilene; and a host of other relatives and friends.
