LINDEN Mildred Whatley Jones, 86, formerly of Linden, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 in a Plano hospital. She was born in Cass County and resided here for 83 of her 86 years of life. She attended Kildare schools and lived in Linden since 1948. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church. She worked tirelessly for Linden for over 30 years helping to get programs like the Miss Linden Pageant, Youth Center, Linden Hospital and the L-K Band Boosters for the city. She helped her husband, Carl, run Nichols Dry Goods for 30 years and also worked for Field Enterprises Corp. and Mary Kay Cosmetics. Survivors included her son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Lou Ann Jones of Nacogdoches; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Gene Chwerchak of Frisco; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hershell and Jean Whatley of Bivins, and Jerry Don and Nelva Whatley of Atlanta; a sister, Jean Salmon of Linden; three grandchildren and one grandson-in-law, Cristina Paradise and Dwight Dennis Jones of Dallas, and Terri and Robert Pease of San Antonio; a great grandson, John Dennis Pease of San Antonio; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jones, her parents, Curtis and Bergie Whatley; three brothers, Harold, Orman and Buddy Whatley and two nephews, Keith Whatley and Marty Whatley. Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Linden United Methodist Church with Bro. Mark McClanahan and Brad Haile officiating. Burial will follow in Kildare Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Kildare Cemetery Association, P.O.
