Funeral services for Milton Ray Grimes, Jr. of Hughes Springs, will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Rev. Dan McGuire and Rev. Brian Waddell officiating. Burial will be at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral. He was born November 4, 1925 in Kingsville, Texas. He was the son of Robbye Lee Minshew and Milton Ray Grimes, Sr. Milton Ray Grimes, Jr., beloved husband, dad and pawpaw went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2009 at the age of 83. He proudly served his country as an aviation machinist in the U.S. Navy during World War II.H e graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Petroleum Engineering and Natural Gas. He worked as a senior drilling superintendent with Exxon USA for 39 years and retired in 1986. His job included assignments inland, offshore and overseas. He also worked with the Red Adair team to control oil well fires and blowouts. After retiring from Exxon, he did freelance consulting work in the oilfield business. He was past President of the Exxon Annuitants Club of New Orleans, a mason and a Shriner. He was an avid rancher and enjoyed seeing after his cattle and fish. He will be missed greatly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Milton is survived by the love of his life and his devoted wife for 54 years, Wanda Sims; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robbye Lee and Wayne Dennis of Hughes Springs, TX, Cynthia Ann and Rickey Wolz of Slidell, LA; one son, Milton Ray Grimes III of Meridian, MS; one granddaughter, Brandi Lynn Wolz of Slidell, LA; one brother and sister-in law, Robert and Lelo Grimes of Denver, CO; and one sister, Bettye Chapman of Kingsville, TX. Visitation will be held at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, 1213 Hanes Blvd. in Hughes Springs, TX on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his memory to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LA Chapter, 3636 South I-10 Service Road, Suite 304, Metairie, LA 70001.
