Morriss Sutton Moore, 82, of Kildare, Texas, was born December 26, 1941 in Kildare, Texas to Emily Mamie Sutton Moore and Robert Paul Moore, Sr. He passed away at his home on August 12, 2024. Born with a deep sense of duty and adventure, Morriss dedicated much of his life to serving his country. A proud Vietnam veteran, he began his military career in the Army Reserves and later continued to serve in the U.S Air Force.
After his military service, Morriss found a new passion in logistics engineering, a role that took him around the country. His travels allowed him to experience different cultures and landscapes, though he always held a special fondness for the simple pleasures of life—particularly western movies, fishing, and tinkering with anything that needed fixing.
Morriss was a man of strong convictions, known for his stubborn determination. His grit and resilience were hallmarks of his character, and those who knew him appreciated his unwavering resolve in all that he did.
Morriss’s life was one of service, adventure, and quiet enjoyment of the things he loved most. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kimiko F. Moore; sons, Franklin P. Moore and Robert L. Moore; brother, Robert Paul Moore, Jr.; and sister, Frances Thacker.
Morriss is survived by his wife, Sun Moore; daughter and son-on-law, Katherine and Joe Bellini; grandchildren, Christian B. Bellini, Steven A. Bellini and wife Alexis; nieces and nephews, Walter Moore and wife Rhonda, Kitty Summerlin, Gladys Phares, Carmen Moore, Jimmy Mooreand wife, Tammy; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Following the service, all are invited to fellowship with the family at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson. Food and drinks will be served.
