HUGHES SPRINGS-Funeral services for Newell Sartain, 67, of Lone Star will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 29 at First Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Glenn Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. He was born May 25, 1941 in Alto, Texas. For some 30 years he owned and operated Sartain Fluid Power. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed travelling in his RV, and once was a pilot and owned an airplane. He and his wife Marie were members of the East Texas Boot Scootin Club. Mr. Sartain died Thursday, July 24 at his residence. He is survived by his wife Marie Sartain of Lone Star; one daughter Brittany Sartain of Tyler; a brother and sister-in-law Nolan and Glenda Sartain of Palestine; a sister and brother-in-law Rachel and Jerry Bates of Gladewater; two stepdaughters and their spouses Virginia and Chris Lawrence of Longview and Krystal and Jeff Williams of Ft. Worth; and one granddaughter Julia Lawrence; one niece Lindsey Carlson; three nephews Lee Sartain, Mark Sartain and Jordan Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Evelyn Sartain. Mr. Sartain will lie in state Monday afternoon and family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.

  4. I just heard the sad news. Newell gave me my first job after I had my 2 daughters and started me on the career path to "purchasing" in the 1980's. I have always regarded him as the best boss I ever had, because he treated women and men equally.I am so sorry for your loss, may God comfort you all.
