Peggy George (Daily) Shirley; 88 years, 8 months, and 9 days of Madisonville, TX (formerly of Hughes Springs, TX); passed away on Tuesday; July 27, 2021 in Madisonville, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10AM on Tuesday; August 3, 2021 at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX with Bro. Matt Carey and Bro. Mark Trichel officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 9AM. Graveside services are scheduled for 5PM at Friendship Cemetery at 5419 FM 161, Hughes Springs, TX with Bro. Charles Russell officiating.
Peggy was born on November 19, 1932 in Titus County, TX to Estle and Ada (Ashmore) Daily. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1950 and married Joe Ray Shirley on November 25, 1950.
Peggy was faithful to the Lord and loved to fellowship with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family, gardening and needlework. She was also one of the best “42” players around, and her lemon icebox pie was a family favorite.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her daughter, Linda Shirley; and her brother and his wife, Kinith Daily (Carol).
Peggy is survived by her children, Don Shirley (Ann), Gary Shirley, and Marshall Shirley (Sherrie); her siblings, Joyce Parker, Mary Ruth Metcalf, and Bill Daily (Jo); grandchildren Chad Shirley (Martha), Todd Shirley, Bobbie Sue Odom (Cliff), Tammy Moore (Marcus), Robby Stevenson (Lori), Callie Tisdale (T. J.), Cole Shirley (Ashley), Hannah McEwen (Alex) and Eric Shirley; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are: Chad Shirley, Cole Shirley, Alex McEwen, Eric Shirley, Craig Bailey and Rick Earp. Robby Stevenson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Special thanks to Texas Loving Care and Traditions Hospice for the care and attention they provided for Peggy.
