Funeral services for Perry Pruitt, 83, of Hughes Springs, will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Gary Stewart and Rev. Ricky Vestal officiating. Burial will be at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Pruitt was born on August 6, 1925 in Mt. Vernon to Leonard and Velma Pruitt and died on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at a Longview hospice. He was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion #351. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was retired from Lone Star Steel and he drove for Blackburn a number of years. Survivors include his wife of 44 years Juanita Pruitt of Hughes Springs; three sons James Magill of Salt Lake City, UT, Charles Magill of Rockwall, TX and Doug Magill of Pittsburg, TX; one brother LC Pruitt of Hughes Springs; five sisters Rosetta Kay of Sherman, TX, Wayne Belote of Linden, Virginia Pruitt of Hughes Springs, Dorothy Goodman of Hughes Springs and Bernice Goodman of Linden; three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Joe Magill and one granddaughter Sharon Allen. Online condolences can be made to www.reeder-davis.com.
