Funeral services for Queen Esther Watson, 93, of Marietta, will be 1 PM Saturday, September 18, 2010 at New Testament Baptist Church in Naples with Pastor James Boyce officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Valley Cemetery in Marietta under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Queen Esther Watson was born September 1, 1917 in Naples to the late Green Buford, Sr. and Bethena Favors Buford and went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 10, 2010 at her home. She attended the Gethsemane School and united with the Gethsemane Baptist Church at an early age. Queen Esther united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bradford Watson and united with the Floyd Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta, TX. To this union four children were born. She was a homemaker who served faithfully in the community and in the church. She served faithfully in the choir, the Mission Society and as a Deaconess. She was Chairman of the Deaconess Committee of the Unity District Association. She was a known soloist and was asked to sing at many church functions. In 1987, she united with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist church in Marietta and later united with the New Hope Seventh Day Adventist, Marietta. She served faithfully until her health disallowed her to be physically active. Esther was known for her quick wit and resilient spirit. She was a loving and compassionate person. Her favorite words were I love the Lord and I love everybody. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Bradford Watson; one son James E. Watson; one daughter Vergie F. Watson; two brothers Lawrence Buford and Green Buford, Jr.; two sisters Mamie Richards and Alise Rocquemore. She leaves to cherish her legacy, two sons and one daughter-in-law Darrell I. Watson of Houston and Tommy W. and Angie Watson of Marietta; four sisters-in-law Velvie L Carter of San Leandro, CA, Eugenia Norice, Nora Springs and Dorothy Watson all of Dallas; two brothers-in-law Jessie Cooper of Dallas and Henry F. Carter of San Leandro, CA; eight grandchildren Daphne and Dorian Watson, Pamela and James Watson, Jr., Tiffany and Daniel Watson, Lakeshia Rhodes and Keith Howard; one great grandchild Telela Howard; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from noon until 1 PM on Saturday, September 18th at New Testament Baptist Church in Naples.
