Resided in: Hughes Springs, Texas

Randy Black, 74, of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away on January 24, 2025. Randy was born on November 22, 1950, in Pittsburg, Texas, to JT and Ruby McDaniel Black. A graduate of Hughes Springs High School, Class of 1969, Randy was a proud member of his community and a member of First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs. Known for his kind and witty personality, Randy had a gift for bringing joy to those around him, whether through his thoughtful gestures, his love for children and animals, or his unmistakable sense of humor.

Randy shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Toni Welch Black. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, cherished memories, and the warmth of family. Randy adored his nieces and nephews, who loved him deeply in return, and he had a special knack for connecting with children.

He was a man of many passions, including a deep love for classic cars, particularly the muscle cars of the 1960s. Handy and resourceful, Randy was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether fixing something around his home or assisting others in need. He had a soft spot for good food—often enjoying second helpings—and during the holiday season, he delighted in dressing as Santa Claus to bring smiles to those around him.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, JT and Ruby Black; his in-laws, Johnny and Sally Welch; and his nephew, Billy “Begie” Black Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Toni Black; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Pam Black; three nephews, Willie Darren Black, Heath Smith and wife Carli, Jonathan Garcia and wife Lianna; and one niece, Heather Alison Brooks and husband Mason. Randy was also a beloved great-uncle to Scott, Taylor, Seth, Caleb, Alyssa, Lauren, Kiersley, Jade, Faith, Kenzie, Edea, Maddie, Makinley, Ian, Delaney, Khloe, and Crew, as well as four great-great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marianne Welch; along with a host of close friends and extended family who will forever treasure his memory.

Services to honor Randy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and will continue until the service begins. A private burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests you consider a donation in Randy’s memory to the American Cancer Society, the Hughes Springs Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of your choice.
