Rhonda Denyce Cook

Funeral services for Ms. Rhonda Denyce Cook, 52, of Hughes Springs, Texas, will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Veal Switch Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Veal Switch Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 12:00 noon until service time Wednesday at Veal Switch Baptist Church.

Rhonda was born on April 30, 1974, in Longview, Texas. She passed away far too soon on August 7, 2026, at her home in Hughes Springs.

She was bubbly and selfless, and she almost always had a smile on her face. She cared deeply for those around her and devoted her life to helping others through her work as a home health aide. She was always stopping by the store for one thing or another, and her family thinks she probably stopped by Family Dollar on her way to Heaven.

Rhonda loved her children to the moon and back. She treasured being “Aunt Nona” to her niece and nephew, but her favorite title of all was “YaYa” to her precious granddaughters. She was a proud member of Veal Switch Baptist Church. Rhonda loved the Lord, and her faith was an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Monica Rowland Townsend; father, Ronald Shields; grandparents, Richard and Betty Pope; and the love of her life, Chris Seigley.

Rhonda is survived by her children, Bradley Pilgrim and Kinlee Cook; the lights of her life, her granddaughters, Mavery Jaine Pilgrim and Madilyn Reigh Pilgrim; sisters and brothers, Tammy Bunn, Rocky Shields, Amanda Vallery, and Tyler Shields; aunt, Sally Goode; niece, Ashton Vallery; nephew, Byrson Stanfield; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her terribly.

Rhonda’s generous spirit, devotion to others, and deep love for her family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
