Funeral services for Ms. Rosie Richardson, age 92, of Hughes Springs, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Hughes Springs Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Richardson will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rosie Marie (Hatten) Richardson was born January 20, 1932 to Otha D. (Jimmerson) Hatten and Sonny Boy Hatten. She attended public school in Daingerfield, Texas. Rosie accepted Christ at an early age at Liberty United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs, Texas. She was a willing servant and a dedicated worker in the church for many years.

Rosie was a talkative person who never met a stranger. No matter who you were, if she encountered you, she would always say, “I love you.” She made the absolute best chocolate pies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O.C. Richardson; a daughter, Deborah Bruce; two sons, Bobby and Ricky Bruce; two sisters, Pearlena Jones and Malvia Peppers; a brother, Freddie Mack Hatten; two grandsons, Keris Alexander, Adrian King, and two great-grandsons, Malachi Bruce and Patrick Neal, Jr.Β 

She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Rosie Neal of Hughes Springs; a son, Jerry (Marilyn) Bruce of Hughes Springs; two daughters-in-law, Dorethea Bruce-Proper and Eline Bruce; five granddaughters, Dominique Neal, Montoya Craver, TeShina Bruce, Aliyah Bruce, Chericha (Darron) Bolden; eight grandsons, Tyke (Jennifer) Bruce, Patrick (Ioana) Neal, Eric Alexander, Ricky, Jr. (Laura) Bruce, Eric Bruce, Bobby Jr. (Latrivious) Bruce, Brandon (Carissa) Bruce, Monte (Jennifer) Bruce; 37 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
