Funeral services for Ms. Rossie Smith, 74, of Irving, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Jefferson Junior High School. Burial will follow at Cypress Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Smith will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rossie Smith was born to Verdis and Ocellia Graham Durden in Jefferson, Texas, on February 4, 1952. At the age of 74, she was called home on April 6, 2026, in Irving, Texas.

Rossie accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Warlock (WRS) Methodist Church. She was also a proud member of Eastern Star Chapter 52.

Rossie was preceded in death by her parents, Ocellia and Verdis Durden; her husband, Robert T. Smith; her brothers, Robert Durden, James Durden, David Durden, Johnny Durden, Ephain Durden, and Don Durden; her sister, Verdis Clark; and her granddaughter, Genesis Smith.

Rossie graduated from Central High School and later attended Northeast Texas Community College, where she earned her certification as a Certified Nursing Aide. She later earned her certification as a Medication Aide. She gave her life to caring for others, always showing compassion, kindness, and a heart full of love to everyone she met.

In 1970, Rossie was united in marriage to Lawrence Holloman, and to this union two children were born, Phillippe Holloman and Fredricko Holloman. She later married Robert T. Smith, and to this union one son, Johnathan Smith, was born.

Rossie leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Phillippe Holloman (Kay) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Fredricko Holloman of San Diego, California, and Johnathan Smith (Shalonda) of Irving, Texas; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her devoted siblings, Addie Mae Williams, John L. Durden, Beverly Harris (Roger), Edward Durden, Bobby Durden (Mary), Oddice Durden, Della Lamb (Matthew), Lisa Durden (Lloyd), and Sarah Figures (Rickie). She also leaves a special sister, Margaret Taylor, along with a host of favorite nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Rossie will be remembered for her warm spirit, her dedication to helping others, and the love she shared with her family and community. She especially enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing with family and friends, and creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.
