Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Watts, 94, of Lancaster, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Hughes Springs Community Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Ruby Lee Alexander Jimmerson Watts was born July 4, 1932, in Hughes Springs, Texas, to Eligh and Minnie Mae Alexander (Daniel), and was known as “Ruby Lee” by her family. Ruby began her early education in Hughes Springs, Texas, and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized in Hughes Springs, where she became a member of Hughes Chapel Baptist Church.
Her family later moved to Oklahoma, but eventually returned to Hughes Springs, where she met and married Al Jimmerson. Five children were born to this union: sons, Louis, Alvin, Glen, and Randy, and daughter, Veronica. Ruby later adopted two more daughters, Diva and Brieanna.
While living in Texas, Ruby began her career as a nurse, caring for those with mental illness at a hospital in Wichita Falls. She felt God had blessed her with a gift of healing and counseling, and she found joy in helping those who battled illness of both body and mind.
Ruby later remarried, to Leonard Watts, a member of the Air Force stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their family took them to Illinois, Kansas, Little Rock, and California. After spending time in California, Ruby moved back to Texas, where she remained from the early 1990s onward.
Mother Ruby felt God speak to her spirit while living in California that she must relocate to Texas, and she went on to become a pivotal part of Greater Vision Community Church under the leadership of Pastor David G. Reynolds. She was a charter member and played a vital role in the church’s early planning. Mother Watts often said, “You get back what you give out,” and she lived her life by that motto.
While living in Killeen, Texas, she raised and nurtured a multitude of children — first through her own daycare center in her earlier years, and later through her fostering ministry, in which she personally fostered over 100 children.
Ruby Lee was preceded in death by her father, Eligh Alexander; her mother, Minnie Mae; five sisters, Lievinia, Ida Merle, Ezzele, and Mary Jean; five brothers, T.J., L.J., B.L., Isaac, and Robert; one son, Louis Jimmerson; and one daughter, Brieanna Watts.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Alvin Jimmerson Jr. (Linda), Glen Jimmerson, and Randy Jimmerson (Natasha); daughters, Veronica Norman (Willie) and Diva Watts; daughter-in-love, Jo Jimmerson; sister, Era Mae Black; 15 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, church members, and friends.

My Aunt Ruby demonstrated the fiercest love for family and friends. So many fond memories of good times, laughter with your sisters & brothers. You, Aunt Era and my mom, Ida Merle together was such an event. I cherish those memories. Visits to California, Hughes Springs, Altus Ok, Killeen, San Antonio, Dallas and Lancaster. I’ll remember your amazing laugh and zeal for life, along with our conversations about Jehovah God. ❤️🙏🏾, You are loved and missed.

Dear Randy,
My condolences to you and your brothers and sisters. Your Mom welcomed me just like everyone else in your extended family. As I married into the Alexander/Smith family, I will always be grateful to your mother for the time spent with me and my wife at your house when family would be present . Those were good times. I pray that you and your wife will find comfort in knowing that your mother proved herself to be a good and faithful servant.
