Sharon Christine Payne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 28, 1945, in Odessa, Texas, to Clinton and Gladys White and was lovingly raised by Clinton and Leona White.

For over 20 years, Sharon was the co-owner of Two’s Company in Jefferson, Texas, where her creativity and warm spirit shone through. A natural artist, she had a gift for making something out of nothing, always adding beauty to the world around her. She found joy in tending to her flowers, cooking for her family, and caring for her beloved chickens. Her reassuring words, “Everything is going to be alright,” were a source of comfort to all who knew her.  She was a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.

A devoted Christian, Sharon’s faith was unwavering. She looked forward to the day she would meet her Lord, ready to plant gardens and cook soup in heaven. She was a woman of strength and love, always ensuring that those around her were cared for.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 57 years, Richard Payne; her granddaughter, Megan Payne; and seven siblings.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Richard Payne II and wife Brenda, Dennis Payne, Kimberly Camp and husband Shane, and David Payne and wife Tara. She was a cherished grandmother to Ashley Swift, Nicholas Payne and wife Lori, Amanda Whatley and husband Ken, Victoria Beth Payne, Brandi Surratt and husband Cody, Caitlyn Camp, Trace Camp and wife Makaylah, Dallas Lawson and husband Blake, Cody Payne and wife Natalie, Gage Payne and wife Jessie, and Skye Payne. Her great-grandchildren—Tristan Payne, Calum Swift, Lenora Payne, Morrigan Payne, Lexee Whatley, Lanee Whatley, Madison Payne, Colton Magana, Jonny Magana, Morgan Payne, Brody Payne, Hagen Surratt, Harrison Surratt, and Beckham Payne—as well as her great-great-granddaughter, Kolbee Lawing, will carry her love forward. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Callaway, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Sharon’s kindness, strength, and creative spirit will be dearly missed, but her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who loved her.

  1. A great friend! She was like a mother to me. Loved going on walks with her and her daughter Kim while my kids rode their bikes. She always had something wonderful cooking on the stove! Loved visiting her in Jefferson at her store along with mr.payne sitting outside on a bench. The paynes were always glad to see you and Sharon always had a hug for me. I’ll miss her greatly!

  2. Candle 2I don’t know where to start. I’ve known Sharon majority of my life and we lost contact until around 1992 where we ran into each other in Jefferson. Not only family she was a great friend. We really enjoyed going to garage sales and going to lunch together. She was so talented in her work , and all the things she made me I will forever cherish, and the memories will always be there in my mind. She dearly loved her kids and grandkids and she missed Richard and always told me she looked forward to the day of seeing Jesus and Richard. She ask me last week not to cry for I was having a hard time but she did say if I cry let them be tears of Joy for her. I will miss you Sharon.. Fly high my friend. I’ll see you again one day. ♥️🌹♥️
