Funeral services for Sherman Johnson, 86, of Hughes Springs will be at 10 AM on Saturday, January 22nd at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Rev. Don Ross officiating. Burial to follow at Flat Creek Cemetery in Marietta under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Johnson was born on March 6, 1924 in Cornett Community to Andrew and Betty Mae Johnson and passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Johnson was a retired Baptist Minister and a WWII US Army Veteran. Survivors include one son Billy Johnson of Hughes Springs; one daughter and son-in-law Margaret and John Blackwell of Hughes Springs; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law Jeffery and Jessica Johnson of Avinger and Charles Hargett, Jr. of Hughes Springs; one granddaughter Erica Hargett of Hughes Springs; five great grandchildren DeKevion Hargett, Jamal Monday, Abbigail Rowe all of Hughes Springs and Emleigh Johnson and Jayden Lindsey both of Avinger; two brothers and sisters-in-law J.D. and Lola Johnson of Hughes Springs and Carl and Maurine Johnson of Linden; four sisters and one brother-in-law Louise Johnson and Ola Hargett of Hughes Springs, Erma Craig of Mt. Pleasant and Lois Fay and Jr. Moss of Mt. Pleasant; numerous neices and nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Johnson, his parents, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters. Viewing will be Friday, January 21st from 3-5 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.
