Funeral services for Silverine Barnes, 90, of Daingerfield will be on Tuesday, December 22, at 1 PM at Mt. Zion CME Church with Rev. Q. T. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Whitmore Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Barnes was born on January 6, 1919 in Morris County to John William Bogan and China Hood Bogan and died on Monday, December 14, 2009 at a Mt. Pleasant hospital. She married Willie Benjamin Barnes on July 31, 1959 where the two traveled as one until the Lord called him home. After returning home from residing in Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA, she united with the Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church where she worked faithfully for the Lord until her health failed her. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Mission Society, Kitchen Committee and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her nieces Mae Stugges of Daingerfield, Martha Parker of Naples, Mary Jones of Daingerfield, Margaret Austin of Lancaster, Delores Allen, Jan Turner and Sandra Carter of California, Brandy Fife of Mt. Pleasant; nephews Andrew Austin, James Austin, Samuel Austin and Matthew Austin of Daingerfield, Mark Austin of Lancaster, Charles Smith of Longview, Tommie Smith of Naples, John Smith of Jefferson, Curlee Smith of Lone Star, Larry Charles Smith of El Paso, Joe Smith and Tyrone Phillips of Dallas; a host of great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, one brother, and one niece. Mrs. Barnes will lie in state on Monday, December 21st and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.
