Funeral services for Spencer Sylvanus James of Mount Pleasant will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 30 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Elder Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in James Cemetery in Daingerfield under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. of Hughes Springs. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening at the funeral home in Hughes Springs. Mr. James was born December 24, 1936 and died Tuesday, Aug. 25 at a Pittsburg hospital. He was born in Morris County. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Daingerfield and became a deacon at an early age. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. James is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary D. James of Mount Pleasant; his daughter Patricia James of Fort Worth; three sons Michael James of Mount Pleasant, Roy Wayne James of Omaha and Antonio James of Naples; two grandchildren Khristina Jackson of Seattle, Charles Lewis Jr. of Fort Worth; and a host of other brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Bobbie and Sylvanus James Sr., and his brothers Bonnie and Sylvester James and his sisters Kathryn James, Evelyn James and Erma Faye Lewis.
