Resided in: Linden, Texas

Tommie Sue Watson Morse, age 94, of Linden, Texas, passed away on September 12, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life. Born on December 6, 1929, to Tommie and Florence Watson, Sue began a life in Cass County that spanned more than nine decades. During high school, she enjoyed serving as a cheerleader and playing basketball. Shortly after graduation from Linden High School, Sue married the love of her life, S. J. Morse, better known as Sonny.

Sue and Sonny built a life together putting God, family, and honest work at the forefront of their everyday lives. Their greatest blessings were their three children, David, Steve, and Missy.  They valued fun and good fellowship with those closest to them. Sue loved playing dominoes, 42, and bridge. Simply put, she loved to laugh and have fun. She helped with scouting organizations for her three children and was a staunch supporter of any activity or hobby in which they were involved.

Sue was a servant for the Lord, always using her gifts and talents to help others. She was a wonderful cook, known for her delicious cakes and pies, and a superb seamstress. Sue worked “upstairs” at Allen Bros. Department Store for over 40 years, where her exceptional alternations were only surpassed by the quality of her friendship and witty conversations. She loved her family and enjoyed preparing lunch for family and friends on Sundays. There was only one stipulation, “If you don’t go to church, you don’t eat!” Sue was a dedicated member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class which she dearly loved, and a member of the Linden Methodist Church, where at the time of her death, she was the longest standing member.

Sue is survived by her two devoted sons and beloved daughter-in-law, David Morse of Bivins and Steve and Vicki Morse of Linden; one grandson and the light of her life, Brandon Morse (Dana); two great-grandchildren, Kinslee and Wyatt Morse; two step grandchildren, Tom (Sara) and Troy Watson; two step great-grandchildren, Addie and Nate Watson; one brother, J. E. Watson; a special sister-in-law, Daisy Watson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. (Sonny) Morse; her beautiful and adored daughter, Melissa (Missy) Morse; her parents; one brother, Homer Watson, a dear sister, Merle Hamilton, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Pinkard.

The family will welcome visitors at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Linden, Texas beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024.  A graveside service will follow, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Linden Methodist Church Food Pantry, which Sue was active in implementing.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

    • Sue was so much fun at the Linden Methodist
Church (Fun Bunch) gatherings! This organization met monthly at the church fellowship hall to have fun, as we enjoyed getting together to play special games and eat
a light meal. All of our Senior members enjoyed
having this fellowship together! Sue was the
highlight many times, because of her very
      pleasing personality!

    • I had the pleasure of working with Sue at Allen Bros. starting in 1979. It was always fun to go on break with her as she always knew the latest scuttlebutt and was so much fun to be around. She will be missed.
