Funeral services for Tessie Marie Turner, 71, of Hughes Springs , will be at 2 PM Saturday, March 5, at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church near Lone Star with the Rev. Robert Anderson, officiating. Burial will be in Mims Chapel Cemetery in Mims under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. in Hughes Springs. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the funeral home. Ms. Turner died Saturday, Feb. 26 at a Linden hospital. She was born April 8, 1939 in Marion County to the late Jeffery and Junior Dell (Dixon) Jeffery-Connally. She was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church and attended Traylor schools. She was employed at Steed Hospital for many years, and also worked at local restaurants in the area. Tessie had a passion for cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law Bobby and Pamela Turner of Cedar Hill; Ricky and Jaqueline Turner of Mesquite and Porter Turner of Dallas; two daughters and sons-in-law Sanjer and Morace Wren of Desoto and Debra and Ricky Watson of Daingerfield; two sisters Billye Shelton of Dallas and Joyce Lee of Houston; two special nephews Thomas Jeffery of Arlington, Cedric Hannah of Dallas; a loving companion Elester Royal of Hughes Springs; four step-sisters Bessie Taylor of Dallas, Charlsetta Carr of Dallas, Marva Rogers of Dallas and Darlene Connally of Daingerfield; four step-brothers Larry Connally of DeSoto, Clarence Connally of Dallas, Danny Connally of Dallas, Selwyn Connally of Daingerfield; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren two great-nieces, one great-nephew, one great-great niece and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ms. Turner was preceded in death by one son, an aunt, thee step-sisters and two step-brothers. Friends may leave condolences at www.reeder-davis.com.

I was sad to hear of your loss. Ms Tessie was a kind person. She also was the person who named me back at Steed Hospital and she never let me forget it. She will be truly missed. May God Bless and Keep you all.

I knew Ms. Tessie from the clinic here in town. She always had such spunk & attitude when she came in; she could get us to laughing with her no-nonsense way of telling us something. She was a very sweet lady to know & will definitely be a patient who I will remember fondly.
