Funeral services for Ms. Tommie Kate Allen, 101, of Linden, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden, with burial to follow at Linden Cemetery. A time of visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the funeral home.

Tommie Kate Surratt was born January 15, 1925, in Linden, Texas, to James Hardy Surratt and Alma Clara Holland Surratt. She passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Longview, Texas.

Tommie Kate devoted over 50 years to her work as a dog groomer in Linden. She had a warm heart, a love for God and people, and never met a stranger. She faithfully taught Sunday School at the local nursing home for many years, sharing her kindness and faith with all she encountered. Tommie Kate cherished sitting on her front porch, watching the cars pass by, listening to the gentle melodies of her wind chimes, and enjoying her favorite treat, ice cream.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma Clara Surratt; daughter, Vonda Lynn Cloninger; granddaughter, Vhonda Reeves Benish; husbands: Wayne Cloninger, Johnny Simmons, Jack Tatom, Deverett Allen; brothers: Russell Surratt, Reed Surratt, A.C. Surratt, Morris Surratt, Carl Surratt, R.S. Surratt; sisters: Maxine Holleman, Ruby Sapp, Nora Surratt, Verdie Perry, Gladys Marsh.

She is survived by daughters: Donna Vaughn, and Gaye Hunter; grandchildren:  Bradley Drury, Charlie Drury, David Drury, Walter Vaughn (Valerie); great-grandchildren: Thomas Reeves (Tosha), Summer Lynn Drury; Linda Vicknair, Brent Vicknair, Rhianna Evans, Bella McNevin, Jade Whorton (Kolton), Derek and Isaiah Hitchcock; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Tommie Kate Allen will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her generosity, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
