HUGHES SpringsFuneral services for Travis Dean Thomas, 70, of Hughes Springs will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24 at New Hope Baptist Church in Bloomburg with Revs. Ron Dyess and Donald Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Thomas was born November 4, 1938 in Fouke, AR and passed away Friday, March 20 at a Longview Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hughes Springs, and he worked for Lone Star Steel, Campbell Soup, and T&N Railroad. He was a devoted Christian, and he loved working in the yard, vegetable gardening, and his grandchildrens Little League games. He is survived by his wife Wanda Thomas of Hughes Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law Donna Hayes of Hughes Springs and Rhonda and Donald Sheffield of Bloomburg; one brother and sister-in-law Waylon and Margaret Thomas of Bloomburg; four grandchildren Jina and Jeremy Upright of Forney, Micheal and Jonica Wilson of Hughes Springs, Britany and Bobby Jones of Bloomburg and Rayelynn and Jonathan Toney of Atlanta; and five great grandchildren Christopher Jones, Christian Wilson, Payden Upright, Cameron Wilson and Bailey Freeman; three nephews Jeffery Thomas and Donnie and Randy Buchanan and one great-nephew Dustin Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents Cosby and Allie Thomas and his nephew Paul Thomas. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.
