Virginia Ann Edwards (Garcia)

November 10, 1934 ~ February 15, 2025
Born in:
Wood County, Texas
Resided in:
Ore City , Texas
Virginia Ann Edwards (Garcia), born on November 10, 1934, in Wood County, Texas, was the youngest of seven children born to Bethel and Maud Edwards. She spent most of her life in Upshur County, Texas, where she worked for many years as a cook and restaurant manager, running several establishments. Cooking just came naturally to her, and she continued cooking for her family up until her final days.
Virginia had a deep appreciation for quilting and gardening, always tending to her plants and flowers with care. A talented seamstress, she could create anything with a needle and thread. She never met a stranger and was known for her strong-willed nature—something that often served her well. She stood by her beliefs and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, yet her greatest wish was simply for her family to be together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her six siblings; her grandson, John Haley; and step-son, Gus Garcia. She is survived by her five children: Joanna Haley of Ore City; John Garcia and wife Tammy of Harleton; Charlie Garcia of Ore City; Danny Garcia and wife Sandra of Canton, Georgia; and Mark Garcia of Arlington. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. The family invites everyone to stay after the service for a time of fellowship and remembrance.

To my sweet Edwards/ Garcia family… as I watched the video that was prepared with all the pictures…. I couldn’t help but smile. It showed the love and importance of family like it should be. I shared a lot of time with aunt gin over the past several years while she would come to my home and visit with her last sibling, my Dad as his health was failing. The stories I listened to those two share were amazing. That time together for both of them and myself was priceless. Oh and the stories she would tell me about all of us cousins and our mischief.
The family picture of all the Edwards Clan was so special. I couldn’t help but think what a reunion that must have been ….Our precious grandmother having all of her children home now. Precious memories….. ❤️🙏❤️
Sending my condolences along with love and prayers to you all.
