Funeral services for Wendell Betts, 77, of Hughes Springs, will be 11 AM Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Liberty United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs with Rev. Alvin Clay officiating. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Betts was born May 13, 1933 in Morris County, TX to Luther and Willie Ella Tarver Betts. He was the youngest of ten children. He passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his home. He attended school in Naples. He retired from McMillan Motor Company in Hughes Springs after 28 years as a Service Manager. Mr. Betts loved fishing, barbequing, playing dominoes, dancing and spending time with his family. On November 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to Vivian Carter. To this union, five children were born. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 56 years Vivian Betts; three sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Rose Betts of Hughes Springs, Larry and Arnetta Betts of Dallas, and Randy and Tina Betts of Houston; one daughter and son-in-law Joe and Teresa Kimble of Richmond; nine grandchildren Dwayne Tarver, Shekita Betts, and Sherita Betts-Murphy, Larry Betts, Jr. and his wife Tamika, Roshunda Betts, Jacoby Betts, Naquita Betts, Fabrice Johnson and British Johnson; 10 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Betts was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings and one son. Mr. Betts will lie in state on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.

My Papa was a great man, I am VERY proud to be his granddaughter and learn all that I have from him, I will keep smiling Papa, that is what I do when I see you and everyday I think of you I smile. Yes I could shed tears but I smile, laugh and remember you.
