Wendell Lester Evans was born on December 19, 1956, in Orange, Texas, to Walter and Alta Faye Marshall Evans. He passed away peacefully at home in Linden on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Wendell had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. With his quick wit and playful spirit, he was always joking and teasing—especially his sisters and nieces. He even convinced his niece to call him “Great” Uncle Wendell and “King” Wendell, a title he wore with pride and humor. Beneath his fun-loving nature, Wendell had a tender heart, and his kindness touched many lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alta Faye Marshall Evans, and his sister-in-law, Melanie Evans.

Wendell is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Rose Evans; his sons, Jacob Evans and Caleb Evans; his siblings, Judy Moore (Benny), Becky Evans Tooley, Walter Evans (Donna), and Ronnie Evans. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends who will cherish his memory.

The family invites you to celebrate and honor Wendell’s life at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025 at O’Farrell Country Vineyards.  Friends will be invited to share a special memory of Wendell during this time.
