Funeral services for William McKinley Royal, 85, of Hughes Springs will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1st at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Rev. Willie Lee Chism  officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc.  Mr. Royal will lie in state Friday from 12-5 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.

William McKinley Royal was born on November 22, 1935 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Roy and Lottie Royal.  He graduated from Traylor High School and attended Wiley College. He served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge.  He worked for Lone Star Steel for a number of years.  He was an entrepreneur owning several businesses including a motel, a beauty shop, and a liquor store.  He was also at one time a long distance truck driver.  His most notable job was as the Snow Cone Man.

William is preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Lottie, and one son Julius Smith.

William leaves to cherish his memories: First cousin: Bessie Mae parker of Wichita Falls: sister Annie Mae Todd of Mt. Pleasant, and his children and their spouses, William Earl and Janice Royal of Longview, Venita and Alan Williams of Round Rock, Delvern and Angela Royal of San Antonio, and Stephanie Royal of Longview; nine grandchildren, a Special Friend Hawatha , and good neighbor Verdell Rushing: as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
