Funeral services for William Thomas Follis, 83, of Hughes Springs will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 9 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Rev. Larry Neeley officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Follis died Saturday, October 6 in a Tyler Hospital. He was born December 9, 1923 in Georgetown, LA. He was past president of U.S. Steelworkers Local #4134, retired member of Pipefitters Local #195, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Burma, India, and China during World War II, and he was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Follis of Hughes Springs; son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Sue Follis of Hughes Springs; a daughter and son-in-law Vonda and Dr. Kit Shaddix of Lilburn, GA; a brother, Orville Follis of Lamesa; a grandson, Dr. Kyle Shaddix of Jacksonville, FL; two granddaughters, Lori Follis of Longview and Kourtney Shaddix of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Steve Follis. Mr. Follis will lie in state Monday afternoon and family will receive friends after 6:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
