Willie V. Dowell was born February 4, 1933 to the late Amanda and Walter Dowell. The last of nine children was called home on January 29, 2018. He joined Mt. Moriah at an early age, and was a faithful member until his health failed. He attended and graduated from Duncan High School in Avinger. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served for two years. After finishing his tour, Willie returned home and was employed at Brown and Root for 35 plus years, where he then retired. After retirement Willie  enjoyed remodeling houses. He always thought duct tape could fix anything.

He met and married Lousia P. Bolden. They shared 54 years of marriage. To this union six children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lousia; one son, Willie “Bubba” Dowell; and all eight of his siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memories six children, Janet (William) Chism of Lone Star,   Dennie Kaye Dowell of Dallas, Yolanda (Gerald) Hatten of Hughes Springs, Karen Dowell of Avinger, Daren Dowell of Pittsburg, Kimberly (Jonathan) Mickens of Naples; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
