Graveside services for Willie Jo Bruce, 85, of Hughes Springs will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 in Hughes Springs Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday afternoon with the family receiving friends from 5-7 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Bruce died Saturday at a Linden hospital. She was born March 2, 1925 in Hughes Springs to Emmit Grady McMillan Sr. and Willie Jo Guest McMillan. She and her late husband John Duse Bruce and daughter Libby owned and operated Hughes Springs Flower Mart for over 25 years. She was a life-long resident of Hughes Springs, a Methodist and a leader of Sunday School, MYF and Bible School. She was a graduate of Texas Womens University. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and she was known to spin a good yarn. Mrs. Bruce is survived by her daughter Jo Elizabeth Libby Bruce of Hughes Springs; four nephews E.G. McMillan III of Dallas; David Randle McMillan and W.D. McMIllan II, both of Wichita Falls, and Douglas Nevelle McMillan of Sherman; and one niece Jane Campbell McMillan of Durant OK. Memorials may be left to First United Methodist Church and Hughes Springs Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.reeder-davis.com.

  6. Willie Joe was a favorite friend of William and I. We always enjoyed visiting with her at the flower shop. She and William were buddies from way back. He rode to school with her when she taught in Lassiter.
