Funeral services for Willie Louise Stanton, 67, of Hughes Springs will be at 11 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Hughes Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Maurice McMillion officiating. Burial will be at Mims Chapel Cemetery in Avinger under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Stanton was born April 10, 1943 in Marion County, TX to Ida Bell Stanton and Sluter Chism and passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at a Dallas hospital. She attended school at both Victory High and Traylor High where she graduated in 1961. Later in life she moved to Dallas where she was employed by Texas Instruments for eight years, Dallas City Transit for ten years and managed Spanish Terrace Apartments for 15 years. She later came home to Hughes Springs to live and was employed by Jordan Home Health Care Services until her health failed. She was a faithful member of Hughes Chapel Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess. She loved her Pastor and followed him faithfully. Louise leaves to cherish wonderful memories of her three loving children Melba Stevenson of Jefferson, Victor (Tracie) Chism of Hughes Springs and Hazel Rockwell of Dallas; her God child Mitchell Tyrone Stanton; two brothers Willie L. Stanton and Carlton Chism; six sisters Wrotee Edwards, Ophelia Stanton, Shirley (Sammie) Harris, Freddie Reed, Betty (Freddie) Cheatham and Linda Chism Patterson; sister-in-law Gloria McGee; three grandchildren Tempest Robinson, Joshua Chism, Vincent Mathis and Tandamn Chism. She was preceded in death by her mother Ida Bell Stanton, her father Sluter Chism; one brother Tommie L. McGee; one sister Everlean Bolden; and her husband Robert Washington. Special thanks to Betty Alexander, Patricia Arthur and Maria Lopez. Viewing will be on Friday, June 18th afternoon and evening at the funeral home in Hughes Springs. Food will be served at the Hughes Springs Community Center (old Traylor High School) after funeral services. Food may be taken to Ophelia Stanton's house before services.
